May is Mental Health Month

Almost every time I turn on the news there's another shooting, a mental health crisis, a suicide, drug overdoses, and way more bad news than good. The Mental Health Association's motto this year is #look around and look within. Yes, there's much to be concerned about but there's also much to be thankful for. As you look within think about what you could do to improve the mental health of those around you. Maybe do some volunteer work. Maybe offer to help a young mother or a senior citizen. Maybe really listen when you ask someone how they are doing. Many times we respond that we are okay but we're #dying on the inside. Often all someone needs is a friendly ear or a gentle hug. Some people are better at this than others. Some don't want to get involved, especially if it's a sticky situation. Many people today are afraid and anxious. More than ever we need to look around and see what is happening to those in our community and those we love. Many of the systems we look to for help are broken, understaffed, and overworked. This is one of the reasons that I trained to be a Certified Mental Health Coach and Chaplain. I felt I could #make a difference.

Challenge - As you look around and within, what is something you can do to help those who are struggling with mental health problems?

For a long time, my passion has been to shine more light on those who are sexually abused. Last week in my Sunday Food for Thought video I shared a story of someone I went to high school with whose father encouraged him to get all the sex he could. I ended by saying that we need to raise and teach our children not to be #sexual predators. This is a difficult subject to talk about & avoided by many but it has so many repercussions. Going forward I plan to share stories from my clients without revealing their identities, to create more awareness.

You can not heal or solve a problem until you first acknowledge it. Keeping silent allows behaviors to pass from generation to generation. Just today there were 2 reports of 2 different school employees in the county where I live, charged with #molesting young girls. A sexual predator is a person obtaining or trying to obtain sexual contact with another person in a "predatory" or abusive manner.

Below is the logo that I will be using in my newsletter and other materials.

We're in a #mental health crisis. Cost is often an obstacle. Thus, I offer standard & reduced rates & discounts for multiple sessions. Clients chose the plan that best fits their budget, & no verification is required. The session length & service provided are the same for both. Sessions are 45 minutes, payable in advance & virtual unless otherwise requested. Please see my website for more info about me & my services. http://www.maggiewhichardmentalhealthcoach.com

Please keep me in mind. Referrals are appreciated. Thank you for your support.

I love that you offer standard pricing options without hiding the fact that you offer reduced plans as well. When people are in need of help, the last thing they want to have to do is jump through hoops to find out that they could qualify for an affordable way to manage their health and wellness. Even worse, to think there aren't options and I have seen that happen as well. Very happy for you and praying for your success! <3
